JOHN HARDYNG CHAPTER
DURHAM, COUNTY DURHAM
Launched in early 2016, John Hardyng Chapter is a special twice-monthly class aimed at introducing Historical European Martial Arts to new students in County Durham.
Primary focus is the Longsword of Johannes Liechtenauer as recorded by Peter von Danzig (1452). The Chapter is named after the famous man-at-arms John Hardyng, who joined Hotspur as a boy soldier, later fighting under Henry V at Agincourt. Hardyng went on to author one of England's great historical chronicles in 1437. His family seat was established at Hollinside Manor, just outside Whickham, in the mid-15th century.
